Car Seat Recall List
This car seat recall list will help you keep up with any new or recent recalls which may affect you. This list will help you know if your present car seat is being recalled or if a seat you’re looking to buy might be on the list.
I don’t review or recommend recently recalled infant car seats. Most of the time the recall is minor and just means a part needs to be replaced. I will keep you current on what is going on with these recalls.
A car seat is similar to any other merchandise including cars in that it’s subject to recall. A baby seat will appear on the list if a defect is determined which could result in an injury to your little one.
Do I Need to Return the Seat?
These problems must be fixed as soon as possible and there is no fee for the new part or service.
A recall of your baby carrier doesn’t necessarily mean it will have to be returned. In the majority of cases, the manufacturer will just replace the part by sending it to you with no charge.
If your seat is very old or the manufacturer is no longer in business, the seat should be destroyed so it’s not used again by anyone.
If your seat is recalled, continue to use it until you receive the part in question or what’s needed for the repair. You want to get the defect repaired quickly but at least the car seat is better than just a seat belt.
Most of the recalled infant car seats are older and there has only been one seat that has been recalled since October 31, 2010.
Recent Recall Information
The List here is for relatively newer models:
• The Britax Chaperone- Made between 4/1/09 to 5/31/10. Call the company for a new chest clip as the old one may break when engaged causing risk of laceration or choking.
• The Evenflo Maestro- Between 12/09 to 5/10. Call Evenflo for reinforcement bracket. Do not use seat with harness until repaired. Booster use for children over 40 lbs. is OK.
There have been many recalls in the past but I’ll only be dealing with more recent recalls and will be updating this car seat recall list as new models are added to it.
