A Short Car Seat Review of the Britax Marathon Car SeatThis is a short car seat review of the Britax Marathon car seat rather than my regular more detailed review. The reason for the shorter review is that the Marathon is so similar to the Britax Boulevard car seat and I’ve done a detailed review of the Boulevard here. I love most of the Britax car seats and we’ll go over why I like the Britax Marathon here. I was surprised to see that it’s the second highest best seller on Amazon for car seats. Not just in its category of convertible seats but for all car seats. 
The Britax Marathon and It's PopularityWhy is the Marathon such a popular seat? It’s a convertible seat that is rear facing from a newborns weight of at least 5 pounds to a maximum of 40 pounds depending on a child’s height. The Marathon is then turned to face forward until a youngster reaches a maximum weight of 70 pounds. You would then need a booster seat until your child reached the approximate weight of at least 100 pounds. This short car seat review won’t focus too much on features as all of the Britax car seats have many safety extras. Britax extras include extra padding and side impact protection that goes beyond U.S. government standards for car seat approval. Differences Between the Marathon and the Britax BoulevardMany people checking out the Britax Marathon car seat and the Britax Boulevard wonder what the difference is besides price since the Marathon has a lower cost. The difference is that the Boulevard has what Britax calls “True Side Impact Protection”. 
The Britax Boulevard and True Side Impact ProtectionTrue Side Impact Protection means that the Boulevard has an extra layer of foam and side walls that form what look like wings to help protect a child’s vulnerable head, neck and spine. By containing a youngster’s head, it restricts movement from crash forces and protects the head from another vehicle intruding into the space where the child sits. This extra is really the only significant difference. If you look at the pictures of the two seats on this page you’ll notice the difference being the side wings near the head on the Boulevard seat.
