The Evenflo Discovery 5 is one of their infant seats. This is a popular seat because of its extremely light weight. These seats are meant to be carried also and this one at 6 pounds will not wear you out as will some of the heavier carriers. It meets and passes Federal Safety Standards for front and side impact crashes. The carry handle is in a Z shape which Everflo says is ergonomic and makes for easy carrying. Owners say installation is easy and you can use this seat with the base or without. I would recommend using the base as it insures that your child is secure. The 5 point harness is standard and does the job of securing children to the seat. The canopy on this seat pivots and the pad is easily removable and washable. This is a rear facing seat for the entire time of its use. Cheap car seats are not necessarily cheaply built and user reviews are very favorable for this seat. The Evenflo Embrace LX is another Evenflo car seat that is priced low but still does well in safety tests. This seat is a little bigger than the Discovery 5 but is still extremely light to carry at 7 pounds. This seat has the Z shaped ergonomic carry handle and also passed the U.S. safety tests. This Evenflo car seat is quite easy to install. The base of the seat is adjustable, it has a level indicator on the seat and the design is so compact that it does make installation much easier than with many other infant seats. This seat is a little more plush than the Evenflo Discovery and looks more comfortable to me. It’s also designed for use by babies in the weight range of 5-22 pounds and is a rear facing seat. The seat scores well in user satisfaction and one reviewer did a good job of describing this seat. Marineman from Marine Tow, NC says: “Easy to adjust, lightweight and a low price.” His only complaint was that the handle gets in his way in the car. This Evenflo infant car seat is priced at $71.54 with free shipping at Amazon. These seats do fill a niche and provide comfort and safety that passes U.S. standards for car seats.
