The Nautilus is a 3-in-1 booster seat that is designed for children from approximately 20 pounds to 100 pounds. The Nautilus main competition comes from a Britax booster seat, the Britax Frontier 85.

These two seats pretty much are made for a certain niche and so are comparable. So in this article we’ll compare them for you.

The nautilus is a best seller for a good reason. This is a seat that parents will purchase after their little one grows out of an infant seat and might be the last seat they’ll have to buy.

It’s a front facing seat from 20-65 pounds with a 5 point harness. Whether your little one makes it to 65 pounds and still fits into the harness is doubtful.

If a youngster grows out of the harness, they then graduate to a belt positioned booster and then eventually to a backless booster up to a maximum weight of 100 pounds.

So the Graco Nautilus car seat might well be the last car seat you’ll need. The Britax booster seat, the Frontier 85 makes the same claim.

When comparing the two seats I don’t think there’s a lot of doubt about the seat that is the higher grade seat. Britax seats have many safety extras and are know for their comfort. The Nautilus is a good lower priced seat which is why it’s such a huge seller. It currently is selling on Amazon for under $140 with 1,122 owner reviews averaging 4.5 stars out of 5 stars possible.

The Frontier is also an extremely popular seat coming in number 6 overall as a best seller. It is selling for under $220 today with 410 customer reviews also averaging 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.

An Important Owner Review

One of the owner reviews for the Nautilus really caught my eye. The lady owns 2 Britax Frontiers and 1 Nautilus so has experience with each seat.

She felt that overall the Frontier was an easier seat to install, to adjust and strap her children in and was much more comfortable. She said that the Nautilus was not a good choice for road trips.

She said the wings on the side of the Frontier gave her children more support and safety. She went on to say that if you can afford the extra money, the Frontier is a great seat.

I think both of these seats have a niche to fill. If budget is a problem, the Nautilus might be the best choice while the Frontier is probably a better seat.
