Safest Convertible Car Seat 2012: the Britax Advocate 70 CS
The safest convertible car seat 2012 is…. Well I know which seat wins hands down with me.I don’t think there is a safer and overall better seat in the convertible car seat class than the Britax Advocate 70 CS.
As a refresher, convertible car seats are rear facing from usually around an infant’s weight of 5 pounds and a youngster will grow out of the seat at 40 pounds or less depending on your baby's height.

The seat is then turned to be front facing until your child grows out of the seat by weight or height. Convertible seats are larger and heavier than infant car seats and therefore will last for more years before being grown out of.
My favorite convertible car seat is a Britax car seat. Britax makes great car seats that have safety extras, plush, comfortable seats and many additional options and extras.
Safety Features of the Advocate
The Britax Advocate 70 CS is at the top of the hill when rating the best convertible car seats. Here are some of its features. It’s rear facing from an infants weight of 5 pounds up to a maximum of 40 pounds depending upon the babies height. The seat is then turned forward until the weight of 70 pounds again depending on a youngster’s height.
The reasons that the the Britax Advocate 70 CS is the safest convertible car seat 2012 are many. SafeCells within the seat compress in the event of an accident and lessen the forward action of a seat in a frontal crash.
A Tether That Absorbs Crash Forces
The Advocate has a tether that absorbs energy and an attachment that further reduces forward movement in a crash and increases the anchoring of the seat. Another feature is exterior cushions that divert side impact forces away from the youngster in the seat and passengers next to the seat.
Another benefit is a head restraint that has an extra layer of foam to absorb even more energy and reduce impact forces on a childs vulnerable areas, the head, spine and neck.

Click and Save Harness Feature
So what does the CS stand for in Britax Advocate 70 CS? It stands for a feature called Click and Save snug harness indicator. The harness simply makes an obvious click when its buckled correctly with just the correct tightness. Doubts about if the seat is snug are removed.
The harness has what Britax calls HUGS which gives even more anchoring and less movement forward in the event of crash forces.
The Britax Boulevard 70
I’ve done a detailed review on the Britax Boulevard 70 car seat here. The main difference between the Boulevard and the Advocate is the Boulevard doesn’t have the extra side impact cushioning.
The other difference is price. The Britax Boulevard 70 is currently selling on Amazon for about $50 less than the Advocate.
Speaking of Amazon, the Britax Advocate 70 CS has 23 customer reviews with an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 stars possible. Besides being a great convertible car seat, the Advocate wins as safest convertible car seat 2012 hands down. Get more information here.
