Safety 1st Car Seats and the Best Baby Car Seat for You
Safety 1st car seats are very popular and I want to talk about their convertible car seats in this article. They have three basic convertible seats: the Alpha Omega line, the Complete Air and the 3 Phase.
These seats are all ranked highly in infant car seat safety tests and have their admirers as the best baby car seats on the market. I’m asked so often which car seat is the best and it really comes down to the seat that fits your car, that you have researched and like and that also appeals to your eye.
Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite
The
Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite
is an extremely popular seat with over 240- 4 stars out of 5 star customer reviews on Amazon. If you only want to buy one seat and never purchase another , this is the seat. It will fit an infant starting at 5 pounds and stay rear facing until your child is around 35 to 40 pounds. It then converts to front facing and finally to a booster seat until your youngster is around 100 pounds.
Safety 1st says that the Alpha Omega grows with your child and I agree with that statement. It’s priced now at around $160 with free shipping. I’ve done a detailed story on the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite
here.
Safety 1st Complete Air
The Safety 1st Complete Air or Air Protect car seat is also a convertible seat. It’s rear facing from your child’s weight of 5 – 40 pounds and forward facing from 22-50. These numbers also depend on how tall your child is.
The air protect feature is technology that the Safety 1st Car Seats company has introduced. The air protect system is designed to further protect your child’s head and increase infant car seat safety. Side impact crashes are extremely dangerous for newborns and young children. The system releases an exact amount of air in the event of a side impact crash which reduces the head being thrown around.
As I researched this seat I came across a customer who feels that the Air Protect is the best baby car seat on the market and with good reason. Melissa Onofrey of Framingham, Mass. has this harrowing story to tell: “A few days ago my car spun out 360 degrees and flipped, landing upside down in the woods off the highway. After crawling to the back I easily removed my child and got him out of the car. Amazingly he didn't have a scratch bump or bruise on him. For me this carseat passed the ultimate test. I am so thankful for it and we will be loyal users for a long time.”
Safety 1st 3 Phase
The Safety 1st 3 Phase Convertible Car Seat is similar to the Alpha Omega. The difference is that the seat is more narrow which means more room for another seat or two. It’s also a better fit for a smaller baby insuring extra infant car seat safety. It’s rear facing from 5-35 pounds and forward facing from 22-40 pounds depending again on the size of the baby.
The 3 Phase then serves as a booster seat up to the weight of approximately 80 pounds. The 3 Phase is also one of the less expensive Safety 1st Car Seats as it’s around $35 less than the Alpha Omega.
